Do you sleep next to your cell phone?
By now, it may seem so normal. But you really shouldn’t as it can be very dangerous.
Health Risks of Sleeping Next to Your Cell Phone
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued guidelines to promote healthier cell phone use. The radio frequency (RF) that the phones give off can be harmful, and there’s much you can do to minimize this.
According to the guidelines, these are some of potential health concerns that sleeping next to your cell phone may cause.
- Cancer
- Memory issues
- Headaches
Although, there isn’t enough evidence to reach final conclusions, there’s enough research that suggests that long-term, high use of cell phones may lead to these health problems.
In the CDPH’s words, “don’t sleep with your phone in your bed or near your head. Unless the phone is off or in airplane mode, keep it at least a few feet away from your bed.”
Falling asleep is also harder with a cell phone since its blue light may stop your brain from producing melatonin. So sleeping next to your cell phone may also counterproductive.
