There are many foods that harm your teeth. While some of them are more obvious, several are harder to spot.
Here’s a list of 4 foods you haven’t thought of that harm your teeth or gums. The reason you probably never thought about them in terms of your teeth is because they may not be that bad for you in general.
But they are problematic for your oral health if you don’t deal with them so be careful.
Coffee
Who doesn’t love a steaming hot cup of coffee at the start of the day?
But along with coffee comes acid, and acid isn’t good for your teeth’s enamel. Besides the acid, if you have any early gum disease of or oral infections ,you’ll need saliva to naturally repair it. Coffee, however, dries up your saliva.
Dried Fruit
Dry fruit is delicious and it’s even healthy. But it makes the list of foods that harm your teeth because it’s also sticky, which means they act on your teeth similarly to unhealthy sticky stuff. Think of candies and taffies.
Potato Chips
Potato chips are fun to snack on. But they also make the list of foods that harm your teeth. The issue for your teeth is their starch. It gets stuck in your teeth and sticks. And Like coffee, it causes acid and less saliva.
Bread
Yes, bread. Similar to the other culprits, bread has starch, which turns into sugar and sticks to your teeth.
Whole wheat bread has two advantages here. First, it has less added sugar. Second your body has a harder time breaking it down. So if not for other reasons, you may want to opt for whole wheat the next time you’re at a grocery or bakery.
