Finding Excitement In Routine As A Senior

Routine is great, but sometimes in can make life feel boring. We all long for some excitement and novelty to keep things interesting.

But unlike youngsters ready to hitchhike across the country or travel overseas all the time, seniors tend to follow a pretty static routine.

Keeping Life Interesting as a Senior

So how do you inject some more excitement into the day-in-day-out sameness as a senior?

Well, one option is to join an assisted living facility, like Wellington Estates that provides a great blend of activities and entertainment. (check out what we have lined up for this month.)

But that may not be an option yet or you may be looking for something more.

Here are three tips for finding excitement in routine as you age.

Catch up

When was the last time you touched base with your niece, Martha? or with your friend, Susan, who you used to be so close to before she moved?

Take out a pen a paper and make a list of all the family and friends you’d like to keep up with. Now set aside a time (weekly or daily, whatever suits you) to call everyone on your list.

If you enjoy social engagement, this is a surefire way to keep life interesting.

Learn a new Skill

They say, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but humans operate differently. You can always learn new skills and start new hobbies.

How about playing a musical instrument? or art? And with the internet today, you have so many more options at your fingertips.

Go ahead, master the area you’ve always wanted to learn all these years.

Help out

Many seniors enjoy taking part in social causes and enthusiastically lend a hand making sure operations go smoothly.

This can include cooking meals for the needy, visiting patients at hospitals or other institutions, or offering support in any other way.

Which tip would most-likely help you with finding excitement in routine?
