August 21st means different things for different folk. At Wellington Estates it means National Senior Citizens Day.
What is National Senior Citizens Day?
National Senior Citizens Day started in 1988. President Ronald Regan signed Proclamation 5847, calling on Americans to show gratitude and esteem towards older citizens.
Health Awareness on National Senior Citizens Day
According to timeanddate.com, “The day was also created to bring awareness of social, health, and economic issues that affect senior citizens.”
While much has been said about these issues there is still plenty to be done in order to raise awareness about the social, economic, and health issues that seniors face.
A good first step to spreading awareness is for you to become more aware of the implications of these issues. Speak to seniors and read. Try to understand the issues from an insider’s viewpoint.
At this point, you’re already ahead of the game. Now when ever these topics come up, you’ll know what to say. With enough people like you, the situation may change for the better sooner than we realize.
What can you do to raise your awareness about the issues seniors face?
