You know that too much sugar isn’t that great for your health. Not only is it dangerous for diabetes but also for your teeth. But you may also know that artificial sweeteners aren’t so wonderful either. So what do you do?
Well many people just make the argument that it’s all no good so who cares. But, hopefully, you’re not ‘many people’ and don’t want to jeopardize your health without making an informed decision.
Thankfully, there are alternatives to sugar. Here are two of them.
Honey
Honey actually has health benefits for seniors and may be a safer alternative than white sugar. Honey has more nutrients than sugar and it is also less processed. It is easier digested too. Honey has less fructose than sugar, making it lower on the glycemic index (GI). This makes honey give you longer lasting energy and less of a blood sugar spike that the sugar often causes.
However, honey has it’s issues too. So don’t overdo it.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon doesn’t exactly taste like honey. But it can add an interesting sweetness to your dish or beverage. If you can get used to the difference, here are some of the benefits you might enjoy, according to Prima:
- Quicker metabolism
- Reduced cholesterol
- Burned belly fat
- Slower digestion
- Controlled insulin
Why not give these alternatives to sugar a try? You can always go back or try something else.
