In line with our previous post on National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), whose theme is Celebrating Life’s Stories, this post will focus on improving communication skills, which will help us tell and hear better life stories.

As you already know, communication plays a major role at Wellington Estates. The top-level service we pride ourselves on is, largely, an act of good communication.

Here are 2 tips that you can start using to improve your level of communication today:

Body Language

Communication is more than just the words we speak. In fact, studies show that most of what we communicate is non-verbal. So, if you’re feeling tense, guess what, your body, facial expression and tone in your voice will say just that. Not everyone will understand that message, but their intuition will signal that something is off.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with being tense but if you aren’t interested in sharing your uneasiness, you need to work on your body language.

A relaxed and confident posture sends a different message altogether, and chances are you’ll feel better after a conversation in which your overall communication was positive.

Listening

How much do you enjoy hearing other people’s unsolicited advice? Not that much, huh. Many other people feel the same. Good communication involves a healthy give and take. This doesn’t mean measuring the ratio of spoken-to-heard words, but it does mean being considerate of really tuning in to what your friend has to say.
